acquires The Sun Weekly newspaper
SYDNEY, July 24, 2001 - Newcastle
Newspapers Pty Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of John Fairfax Holdings Limited,
announced today its acquisition of The Sun Weekly newspaper, published on the NSW Central
Coast.
Mr Brian Evans, General Manager, Fairfax Regional Newspapers, said:
"The Sun Weekly is a strong and vibrant newspaper in a growing
market, and we welcome the opportunity to further strengthen a prime franchise. The
Central Coast region is benefiting from population and employment growth, and we want The

The Sun Weekly was founded in 1987 and has a circulation of 100,000.
