STATEMENT ON RETIREMENT OF MR. LEE CASEY

SYDNEY, March 5, 1999 – Mr. John Greaves, a Board member of John Fairfax Holdings Limited and AAP Information Services, today praised Mr. Lee Casey, who has announced his retirement from AAP.

Speaking on behalf of Fairfax, Mr. Greaves said:

"Lee made a distinguished contribution to the AAP Group over many years. As a major shareholder, Fairfax greatly valued his exceptional service, particularly in relation to the successful float of AAPT.
