Mark Scott, our Editorial Director, has been selected as the next
Managing Director of the ABC. He has my sincere congratulations on
leading the national broadcaster.
Mark's commitment to quality, independent journalism has been the
hallmark of his editorial leadership at Fairfax and with all our mastheads
in Sydney and Melbourne. He has our thanks and appreciation.

I am honoured to be selected as the next Managing Director of the
ABC. To be invited to lead the national broadcaster is a compelling
opportunity, particularly at this important time in its history.
At the same time, I am very sad to leave the best publisher in Australia,
and one of the most outstanding media companies in the world. This
is an exciting time for Fairfax, and the dynamic leadership it is
enjoying with David Kirk.
I am most proud of the strong, driving editors in all our mastheads,
who are setting the news agenda and growing circulation and readership,
in print and online. Quality, independent journalism is the core of
what we do -- and we do it so well.
