CNBC Asia Launches "Market Wrap" Show in November with The Australian Financial Review

CNBC Asia and Fairfax Business Publications (FBP), which includes The Australian Financial Review (AFR), announced today that they will jointly produce a half-hour "market wrap" report every weeknight to be broadcast by CNBC Asia.

Australian Financial Review Market Wrap is a collaboration between CNBC Asia and The Australian Financial Review (AFR), Australia’s most respected business daily. The show is a wrap-up of the biggest news from the Australian stock market. Anchored out of Singapore, the half-hour show will look at the day’s winners and losers, talk to newsmakers and market movers and discuss market action with financial analysts. The AFR content for the program will be locally produced and uplinked from Australia.

Mr Michael Gill, publisher and editor-in-chief of Fairfax Business Publications said, "The AFR is pleased to have an agreement with an international television news leader. This collaboration with the leading business news broadcaster in the region is consistent with the Financial Review’s developing presence and profile in Asia, and with the robust positioning of our internet site. We are initiating this project with the expectation that this new platform, reflecting our expertise in business, economic and political news, will find good acceptance in the market. The program’s time slot is prime business news viewing time in Asia. We will also gain solid television experience from CNBC Asia."

CNBC Asia’s Vice President of News and Programming Mr Christopher Blackman said, "Our working together with AFR is in line with our thrust to localize the service in key markets such as Australia."

"Putting together the editorial strengths of AFR and CNBC Asia will result in a show that is most relevant to our Australian viewers, and we’re delighted to include this value-added service to the localized ticker our Australian viewers already enjoy, " Mr Blackman added.

Mr Fred Hilmer, CEO of Fairfax, said, "This is a very positive development for Fairfax Business Publications and its leadership position in the Australian market. This projects our distinctive content into a dynamic and growing medium. We look forward to working with CNBC Asia."

Australian Financial Review Market Wrap broadcasts Mondays to Fridays at 8:00pm and repeats at 11:00pm (Sydney time) on CNBC Asia’s Australian feed. On CNBC Asia’s regional feed, the show airs at 5:00pm (Singapore/Hong Kong time).
